Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2025-03-19T23:24Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
Activity ID: 2025-03-19T23:24:00-CME-001 (version 2)
Note Keyword:
DPL: CME exhibits dimpled front
Faint: Faint event; may affect type assignment
GAP: Data gap
Source Signature Keyword:
FLR: Flare
PEA: Post eruption arcade
FIL: Filament eruption
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Faint but fast CME with an asymmetrical front, with a protruding nose to the south, seen directed to the west in SOHO with the start covered by the nighttime data gap in SOHO. Its source is the filament eruption seen on/behind the SW limb: as ejecta/prominence in AIA 304 (there are actually two ejectas - a more southern complex shaped loop-like prominence seen at 2025-03-19T22:50Z at latitude of -21, and a fan-shaped ejecta to the north of it seen at latitude of -7 at 2025-03-19T223:46Z. This eruption is also seen as fast opening of field lines behind the limb in AIA 193/171 starting at 2025-03-19T222:01Z and later (starting at 2025-03-19T223:21Z) as bright post-eruptive arcades on/behind the limb in AIA 131. There is an associated long duration occulted C6.0 flare peaking at 2025-03-20T00:07Z from behind the limb (bright arcades). It is possible that the flare is from former Active Region 4018 (S21W100).

Measurement TypeCME measurement type: Leading Edge (LE), Shock Front (SH), Right Hand Boundary (RHB), Left Hand Boundary (LHB), Black/White Boundary (BW), Prominence Core (COR), Disconnection Front (DIS), Trailing Edge (TE).
Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE false Plane-of-sky NONE -1.0 1226.0 O 40.0 2025-03-20T02:25Z Since the source is on or behind the limb and STEREO A coronagraph imagery is not yet available because of the nighttime data gap, only a plane-of-sky analysis is possible at this time (although the CME is likely close to the limb and this plane-of-sky measurement may be close to the 3D one).
